Dr. Seuss The Lorax Goes To The Big Screen

The movie box office is set to go off the charts this weekend as people will go out to watch The Lorax in cinemas. An original Dr. Seuss book, this Hollywood release is expected to rake it at least $50 million on opening weekend starting March 2.

In the original Dr. Seuss book, The Lorax is a clear and straightforward appeal to take care of the environment. However, the movie, as it has been done with previous books, has been remixed with storylines and plots to extend to ninety minutes.

When you watch The Lorax movie, you'll get to meet two new characters. First, the original unnamed boy is now called Ted, in honor of Theodor Geisel, the real name of Dr. Seuss. And Audrey, Ted's love interest which is not found in the book. Interestingly, Audrey is the name of Dr. Seuss' wife in real life.

Zac Efron gives Ted his voice in this film, while country singer Taylor Swift brings life to Audrey. Danny DeVito voices The Lorax while Ed Helm speaks for the Once-ler.

Initial reviews of the film has been mixed - but not because the story is bad, but mainly because the original book's political message has somehow been diluted in the film. Nevertheless, both children and adults alike are expected to see this family-oriented animation this weekend.
