London Olympics 2012 Torch Relay Begins

The London Olympics opening ceremony is drawing near and it all starts with the lighting ceremony in Olympia which you can watch live on May 10 starting 10:00 CET.

The London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay (OTR) will be happening for 70 days where the fire will travel around the United Kingdom for approximated 8,000 miles, going through UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey.

A total of 8,000 torchbearers will bring the Olympic fire through different modes of transport during this period, where it will finally rest on the Olympic Stadium in London where four spectacular Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held.

The Stadium is located right in the middle of the Olympic Park on an "island" site, surrounded by waterways on three sides. Spectators will reach the venue via five bridges that link the site to the surrounding area.
