The London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony is set on Sunday, August 12, 2012, at 4:00 PM ET.
This event will celebrate the achievements of all athletes who have participated in this installment of the summer Olympics. Truly, whether you've won a medal or not, representing your country in this event is already a great accomplishment.
One of the most anticipated part of the closing ceremony program will be the handover of London of the Olympic flame to the next Host City, which will be Rio de Janeiro - for the 2016 Olympic Games.
The Closing Ceremony was conceptualized under the leadership of Artistic Director Kim Gavin; and will be entitled, "A Symphony of British Music", and you can expect past and current British music icons to be there to perform.
Some of those rumored to sing and perform are Adele, Liam Gallagher, Kate Bush, Jamiroquai, Elton John, George Michael, Ray Davies, Annie Lennox, Paul McCartney, One Direction, The Pet Shop Boys, The Who and The Spice Girls.
Of course, Muse will be there to perform Survival, the official London 2012 Olympics song.
The London 2012 Closing Ceremony Program will start with the March of the athletes to the stadium. To be followed by flag ceremonies and speeches, where the handover for Rio 2016 will happen.
Next will be the ceremonial "Extinguishing of the Flame", then the poised creative numbers and musical performances.
