Serena Williams Wins a Golden Slam

Serena Williams is now the second woman to achieve a Golden Slam in her tennis career after winning the London 2012 Olympics gold by beating Maria Sharapova, 6-0, 6-1.

Last month, she also won her fifth Wimbledon title, giving her a total of 14 Grand Slam singles titles.

The first woman to achieve the Golden Slam was Steffi Graf, who accomplished the feat during the 1988 Olympics.

But if you think there will be no more gold for her this year, think again as she and her sister Venus, will be playing at the doubles semifinals and a chance to bring home their third gold for the category.

Meanwhile, top-seeded Victoria Azarenka from Belarus bagged the bronze from 14th seed Maria Kirilenko of Russia, 6-3, 6-4. However, despite the finish, because Sharapova loss against Serena, Azarenka retains her No. 1 tennis ranking.

Lastly, it will be Roger Federer's turn to try to get a Golden Slam on Sunday when he plays against Andy Murray of Britain in the men’s final.
