Small Business Saturday Now on Third Year

Big box retailers had their day during Black Friday, while online stores will have their turn on Cyber Monday.

The question now is, what will people do in between - on Saturday and Sunday.

While many merchants choose to continue their Black Friday deals through the weekend, and online vendors usually start their Cyber Monday sale as soon as Friday ends, a new initiative is hoping that small, local stores can also have their day in the sun.

Amply called, "Small Business Saturday", this is the time when everyone is encouraged to check out the deals and promos that small, local enterprises have to offer.

The initiative, spearheaded by local shop owners all around the country, started back in 2010 and is now on its third year.

Hopefully, these independent local businesses will get their own priority during this day, as most shoppers usually choose to go to big-box retail outlets for their needs during Black Friday, and many of them are finding it hard to compete.

Fortunately, small business owners have the support of political and business leaders, who all recognized that "Small Business Saturday" is a great way to boost local economies.
