The Dow Jones industrial average today tried to make it to 13,000 again but fell short towards the end of the trading day. The stock market made a recovery to push the Dow just within 4 points of the 13k milestone.
The good performance was mainly inspired by more good news coming from the U.S. employment industry. In the end, the Dow Jones closed up with 46.02 points at 12,984.69.
Meanwhile, the Standard & Poor's 500 index increased by 5.80 points and closed at 1,363.46. On the other hand, the Nasdaq composite index likewise gained 23.81 points to end at 2,956.98.
The Dow Jones industrial average surpassed 13,000 three times last Tuesday but could not close above the milestone. The last time the Dow made it above 13,000 at end of trading day was in May 19, 2008 - a quarter before the start of the U.S. financial crisis.
