Pinterest Announces New Features

At the South by Southwest, Pinterest has announced that they will be rolling out new features for the site which includes a major make-over on the interface and profile page.

The image pinning social network has recently been stealing the spotlight over other social bookmarking sites for its visual appeal and user-friendly features. With now over 11 million unique users already signed up, it seems that Pinterest is being set up to be more competitive against industry leaders Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

Among the new features you'll soon see is the redesigned profile page, now with a top bar which gives your public information, profile photo and a notification bar of re-pins. There is now a retooled navigation bar which links out to your board, individual pins, likes and Pinterest activities. Aside from these, you can now rearrange your boards.

More features are likely to roll out in the coming weeks, including the much clamored iPad app and the release of its official API for developers.
