St. Patrick's Day Feature: Corned Beef and Cabbage Recipe

Irish-Americans are celebrating St. Patrick's Day today. While some are busy shopping for St. Patrick's Day deals today, families are on the other hand, preparing their traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage recipes.

Here's a simple recipe for corned beef and cabbage as our special feature to all our readers. We hope that everyone enjoys being green today.

This recipe is good for 6 people and will take around 3-4 hours to cook. Prep time is just a short 10 minutes.

Corned Beef and Cabbage Recipe Ingredients:
3 pounds slab of corned beef
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
2 tablespoons pickling spices
4 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
2 pounds of potatoes, cleaned and chunked
1 small head of cabbage, cut in quarters

Corned Beef and Cabbage Recipe Procedure:

Drain the liquid out of the corned beef. Rinse thoroughly and trim off the fat cap. Then place the beef inside a pot and add water until everything is submerged.

Cover the pot and put over low fire. Let simmer for 30 minutes, careful not to bring it to a boil. Afterwards, drain all the water.

Again fill with water, then add the pickling spices. Cover and bring to simmer for 1 hour. Afterwards, drain all the water again.

Add fresh water one more time. Add the carrots and simmer for 30 minutes. Then add the potatoes and let simmer for another 10 minutes. Then add the cabbage and let simmer for another 15 minutes.

Remove the beef and carve into chunks. Serve in a bowl with the vegetables and broth. Enjoy!
