Kansas City, Missouri Becomes Google Fiber Community

Google Fiber is the broadband internet service by the search company that uses fiber-optic communications to deliver up to 1-gigabit-per-second data speeds.

And recently, Google has announced that the service is now available in Kansas City, Missouri.

Google is now inviting Kansas City residents to pre-register for the service by giving a US$10 deposit.

Currently, three plans are being offered to the Kansas City public:
  • Unlimited data, up to 1 Gbps, Google Fiber TV, a Nexus 7 tablet, TV Box, Storage Box, Network Box and 1TB storage on Google drive: this is USD 120 per month with a contract period of 2 years, or you can pay USD 300 one time as construction fee for no contract period.
  • Unlimited data, up to 1 Gbps, Network Box and 1TB storage on Google Drive: this is USD 70 per month with a contract period of 1 year, or you can pay USD 300 on time as construction fee for no contract period.
  • Unlimited data, up to 5 Mpbs download and 1 Mpbs upload and Network box: this is free for at least seven years, but the community has to pay USD 300 each for the construction of the network

Google Fiber uses bi-directional connectivity of around 1 gigabit per second, a speed which is said to be 100 times faster than the average speed experienced by Americans.
