The most exciting two minutes in sports is now being prepped and fans of the event are starting to look for hints on who might win the most prestigious American Thoroughbred race of the year will be.
The race is getting a lot of buildup and up until the last day leading to the Derby, anything can still happen and the list of contenders can change in an instant.
However, we've rounded up some of the possible contenders for Kentucky Derby 2012. The official list of contenders will surely be out anytime soon, but do expect the following to show up on the field:

- Bodemeister, by Zayat Stables and trained by Bob Baffert
- Union Rags, by Chadds Ford Stable and trained by Mike Matz
- Hansen, Kendall Hansen M.D. and Sky Chai Racing, and trained by Michael Maker
- Creative Cause, by Heinz Steinmann, and trained by Mike Harrington
- I’ll Have Another, by J. Paul Reddam and trained by Doug O’Neill
- Take Charge Indy, by Chuck and Maribeth Sandford and trained by Patrick Byrne
- Gemologist, by Winstar Farm and trained Todd Pletcher
