Are you ready for the 2012 Kentucky Derby that's happening in a couple of hours? Well, you're not completely ready until you have a Mint Julep in hand.
While Churchill Downs has been experiencing stormy skies early this morning, everyone's still hoping that the derby will push through tonight despite a very high chance of rain coming down to the dirt track.
So as we wait for further announcements from the Kentucky Derby 2012 officials, we think it's best to just hope for good weather and stay cool and composed with our easy to do Mint Julep recipe below.
How to make Mint Julep:
Ingredients:
10 fresh mint leaves
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 shot of water
1 shot of rum
Lots of shaved ice
Procedure:
1. Rub the mint leaves.
2. Put in glass and add sugar.
3. Mix in water and stir until sugar is dissolved.
4. Add rum.
5. Fill glass with ice.
Drink moderately.
